HISTORY & MISSION OF THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION

The  Library Foundation  is  the first non-profit corporation formed for the purpose of supporting  a local public library.

In March 2008 a group of dedicated Kingston citizens signed the organizing documents for the  Library Foundation. They wanted a non-profit corporation that would provide permanent support for the Kingston municipal library. The articles of incorporation mention the Foundation's literary and educational purposes "for the advancement of the public library of  Kingston" and to "provide funds for expansion and modernization of  the existing library building”.

Our mission is to raise and distribute funds to enhance the Kingston Library. The Foundation seeks funds through an annual appeal, annual art shows and guest author appearances, and through the generous support of library patrons through gifts, bequests, trusts and other financial support.

The Library Foundation of Kingston is a non-profit Tennessee corporation qualified as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

WHO WE ARE AT THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION

The  Library Foundation of Kingston is managed by a nine member Board of Directors.  The efforts of the Board are entirely voluntary, that is, there is no paid staff.
